I was disappointed not to be present at the funeral, but my thoughts were with you, Brian and your family. You recently crossed my mind while hearing the tender middle movement of a Vivaldi concerto for two violins (RV507), which I have shared on the music page of this site. Know that I am grateful for your gentle guidance and encouragement through my meandering life path, from when I was child to the last time we met. Your sharp wit and critical thinking certainly left an impression on me. I hope that your family can move forward knowing the extent to which you brought joy to so many. Rest peacefully.

I watched "The Big Country" tonight. Thought of Dad all the way through. A film about honour, doing the right thing in a gentle way, without making a fuss. I'm sure that's what Dad loved about it. Apart from the great music . . . and Jean Simmons!

Someone said to me today that life was richer for knowing my lovely dad. So true xx
